Striking differences between arts schools and arts universities can be best understood when we compare finer differences between an art school such as RISD and a university like NYU. RSID is considered one of the best art schools in United States and even in the world. Though it has other departments like liberal arts , mathematics and science, it has centralized its prime focus on fine arts and design, RSID implies Bauhaus approach to arts and design- not only in style but for educational technique. Students are really dedicated to go to study in RSID. This RSID includes the study program for both graduates and undergraduates.
On the other hand, NYU 's institute for fine arts program is mainly directed for graduate students as they offer MA and PhD degree. The Steinhardt School at NYU is not as effective as RSID's it is having the privilege of being located in a famous and big city. Differences are easily found out when both the institutions are compared. The striking difference is the space. As NYU is crowded, it got little space where as RSID is spacious and is completely focused on their art program.
